Issues with wireless keyboard compatibility

Hey there. Firstly, I'd like to state that this is my first time, as well as first post on this forum. My name's Greg, and I'm a new Wii owner (Just got it about a week ago). Today I learned how to connect it to the internet, and the first thing I did was play some Animal Crossing online with a friend of mine overseas. After realizing how tedious it was to type out sentences to friends using the Wiimote+on-screen keyboard, I ran downstairs and grabbed the only spare keyboard in the house; a wireless Microsoft Laser Keyboard 4000. Now, I can plug in the wireless receiver and see the little lights blink, but when I try connecting the keyboard to the receiver, I can't get it to work.

I'm unsure as to whether this is a problem with the receiver being in the Wii or simply because a disc was needed to "install" the keyboard on to the computer.

I'd appreciate any help.

The keyboard may require a driver to work, unfortunately this cant be done on the wii

If the keyboard doesn't work in the BIOS of your computer, you're most likely out of luck.

Get a wired keyboard. They work just fine.
