We're trying to use it more as a forum.

I'm not sure if you mean what is rep or what's with like..rep on the forum. So I'll try to cover both.

Say you make a thread asking a question and a member answers your question then you can give them good rep for helping And if somebody makes a stupid, inapropriate post then you can give them bad rep.

At the bottom of every post is the online/offline bit well the rep button is next to that.

It helps to sort out the idiots from the helpfull, respected members of the forum and comes in quite handy.
