If you try and take over a racket and you have to "persuade" the owner to sell out to you then you need to take care of the rival family first. I've walked into a racket and just bought them out with the rival family stood right beside me but then thats because I could. If I had to use force then I'd shoot the rival family.
As for the churches, if you look around the west side of the church and go downstairs you'll find a little treat with a big bang :yesnod:
The church comes into play when you attempt to bribe the chief of police
In one of the night clubs in the neighbourhood will have a dancer that has some dirt on the Chief of Police. Talk to her and she will give you a tip. This is usually to go meet someone somewhere. For Little Italy it was the gravedigger behind the church in Little Italy. Roughed him up and he spilt the beans on the CoP. Blackmailing the CoP and he will remove any heat you have if you go visit him.
ANOTHER TIP - HIJACKING TRUCKS
Its always worth having Police backup for this and have them in the nearby area. When you see a goods truck block off the street so it causes a traffic jam and then shoot at the truck (or do what I did first time round and drive at 60 mph and accidentally smack head on into the truck :ciappa: )
Kill off the rival family and then interrogate the truck driver until he gives you the keys. Hop into the van and then drive to the nearest truck drop off point. Always pick the nearest and easiest to get to cos the rival family will not take too kindly and will try and ram you off the road.
ANOTHER TIP - MONEY FOR NOTHING
I've noticed there is a guy that runs up to a woman and beats her to death. I never paid much attention to him or her until last night. I decided to teach him a lesson and beat him up instead. When he died I noticed he dropped some cash - turned out to be about $1,600. So I then decided to spend about 30 minutes jsut walking about waiting for similar guy to show up. He did so again so I beat him up again. Another $1,600 approx. Over the 30 mins he must have appeared and demised about 5 times. Easy money. Spend a couple of hours doing this and I'll have enough to buy a golden gun worth $75,000 (level 3 weapon) - but then I may have enough to purchase a safe house in Brooklyn so may do that instead.
??? Any chance of stickying this post as I'll add more tips as and when I find them

Oh, and when looking to upgrade your guns be ready to run. I upgraded a gun to level 2 and it turned out to be an ambush. Luckily my safe house was 100 yards down the road as it dropped my health to half within 10 seconds :tard:
Took out my first warehouse as well. Easy enough. Just a lot of hiding and shooting in the head with my magnum to start with then raining bullets down on them using my tommy. Vendetta level maxed out and started a mob war as I got near to the warehouse owner, bought him out then drove as fast as I could through the streets to the FBI agent - war over yayyy \o/
Now have 3 warehouses and 1 shop still left in Little Italy thats not under my control

More Tips:
Warehouses and Hubs
These are a lot tougher than normal rackets only due to there being more rival mobsters shooting at you and a big chance that you can start a mob war if your not too careful.
First thing to do is to make sure things are peaceful between you and the rival family. Bribe an FBI man if you need to. Next ensure you have full police backup. Bribe a few policemen or if you have blackmailed the Chief of Police for the district then pay him a visit instead. Now we can go to the hub/warehouse location. Find a good spot to hide, either behind a wall or behind a car you have driven there. Z-target one of the rival families in the head, wait until the circle gets smaller and then take a shot. Use a normal gun for this - either a Magnum or similar. Ignore the shotgun or tommygun for now. It should be a clean head shot and he'll die instantly. If police are nearby they'll hear the shot and join in. leave them to do all the shooting. if no cops help you in the fight then I guess your on your own. Z-target the other rival mobsters in the head and shoot again. each shot should be a clean kill. If not just fire another couple of bullets and they'll soon drop.
There will be 2 blockades before the main gates to the warehouse so just hide and shoot until you get round to the front gates. If your vendetta level gets too high then you are in danger of starting a mob war. You really need the mob war to last as short as possible so before entering the main warehouse quickly drive to the nearest FBI agent, bribe him, and drive back again. The guys you've already killed will still be dead. Once back at the main gates, carefully tip-toe through the boxes dotted about either shooting down the rival family or killing them with your bare hands. the less noise you make the less will come out looking for you. if there's only one then you can strangle him or garrote him. if your lucky you can snap his neck from behind if he hasnt noticed you.
enter the warehouse and make your way through. the guy that you need to buy out will usually have about 6-10 rival family mobsters protecting him so its time to get out the tommy gun and rain bullets down on anything wearing a mobsters coat. By this time your vendetta level will be high again and you may have started a mob war. Buy out the warehouse and drive quickly back to the FBI agent to make things peaceful again.

I've only found one Money Bag so far and thats in the Hospital when you have to protect Don Vito - (this is the last mission I've done so far)

Once you have escorted your girl outside you need to go back to the first floor to see Michael Corleone. before talking to him run upstairs and go find Don Vito in his bed. In his room you will see a Money Bag
