Yeah, I have my Wii console laying horizontally as well. This position prevents any family members from knocking it over. I think its just personal preference, so I am sure that it doesn't affect its performance.

i dont have enough room on the table it's on to put it horizontally...but i need the plastic disk thing cuz i accidentally knocked it over. but i prefer verticle cuz it takes up less space
