you can't carry around anything! if you get caught, you will get arrested.
if you carry anything even a key with the intent to harm someone with it, and you do harm someone with it, then you will also get prosicuted.

I'm pleased my local police force doesn't have that opinion about anyone in my neighbour hood.

I've never had problems with cops before, usually if you are honest and respcetful they will let you slide with a warning.

But that was at a time when my local area was dodgy to ****

nope, your not allowed to carry anything. if you carry a knife, and get caught they will not let it slide, they are just tighter about it here. of course doesn't stop people having em, you can buy a gun for the price of about 35p, less than a price of a chocolate bar.
