I got mine in November/December last year.. not a single problem since. It was more so the launch systems that were more highly pronged to overheat. Purchasing a new one now though, you shouldn't have anything to worry about really.

So if you get it repaired in/around october then you probably wont get the red ring of death?

right, but anything could happen still, not every system is perfect, i had to get mine repaired twice, but this one is running alot better now

I hear ALL the halo 3 edition 360s have the new 65mm falcon chip? Which apparently 'nullifies' the chances of getting rrod. Which i think is a whole load of lies.

But they say they are finding new ways to prevent these things happenning so bear a lil longer
