Where can you add 2+11 and get 1

Two caves each guarded by a man,
one cave is full of viscous animals
One is empty and leads to safty.
you have to go through one,

one tunnel guard always tells lies
one tunnel guard always tells the truth.

you dont know which lies and which tells the truth

you can ask one question to only one of the guards, how do you know which one to pass through.?

Just realised that my last one is same as Brawnys heaven / Hell one just different Scenarios

My friends guess: ask which way the other guard would tell me to go. Then go the opposite way?

I got a couple:

Complete the last two in this sequence: 1=3, 2=3, 3=5, 4=4, 5=4, 6=3, 7=5, 8=5, 9=4, 10=3, 11=?, 12=?

and

A man had twelve toothpicks in front of him. He took one away. Now he had nine in front of him. How is this possible?

this thread makes my brain hurt :(

i don't know if this has been posted, but here goes:

a hangman sits outside of a village.
before you can enter the village, you have to tell the hangman why you came to the village.
if you tell the truth, you can go in.
if you lie, you are hanged.
what reason did one man give that left the hangman confused?

(1) 11 = eleven (6) 12= twelve (6)

(2) "XII" (4 toothpicks? ) take 1 of the 4, and change it to a "IX" (if not 4, but 12, then take 1 away, and shape whats left, into the symbol of IX, or the number nine (9))

A little iffy on the second one, it was actually supposed to spell out the number nine, not be in roman numerals, but I'll give it to you.

First one is correct, as well.

@Tortilla: We had one kind of like that. Is it "I am going to be hanged?"
