well you have to weld the plastic together and do several things to modify the look.

Since when did you weld plastic? Welding is for metal isnt it?

Surely this is done simply with screws or a strong industrial glue.

nope you have to melt the plastic then meld it to hold it inplace for the plataforms on the bottom and for the casssing you have to do the same thing industrial screws dont cut it they make it look ugly thats why its welded together except for the back.

And yes 80 plus hours is a lot of time on the hands of this person.
Those Wii's were shown in the latest Nintendo Power as well.
