1v1 brawl league

No offense, but everyone and their mom can sub Meta Knight. I agree with Lastwords?, there are 35 characters, we should see more variety around here. I'd say the same about Snake, but at least Snake takes a lot of practice to even sub.

Does anyone here play with a wiichuck? I tried using it the other day at this store (first time I play brawl in more than a month) and it took me about an hour not to suck so bad. I did discover I'm not bad with Ice Climbers, but I couldn't get over how awkward it is to not play with a GC controller.

Metaknight's get predictable at some points.
I main Snake but I have subs like Ike, Pit, MK, Samus, Wolf, and Olimar.

Mostly I dislike that probably only 1 out of 10 people who use those characters actually do the character justice, the rest are just using them because of match-ups or for getting on the bandwagon.

I'm really enjoying using the lower tiers, much more satisfying when you defeat people and instead of being one more of the crowd you're the fool who uses PT.
Just for safety though, I have mains all over the place. PT is low, Wolf is mid, and I'm considering training Ice Climbers, which are rising quickly (M2K lost to the best Ice Climbers player, Lain).

I second the IC's, and all I can tell you is that, other smashers will look down on you just because you use them. You'll be hearing johns, and will get lots of negative stuff, saying you're cheap and what not.

Idk, I found them way more fun to use than other higher tiers. And I still haven´t memorized the deadly chain grabs, so I don´t think I´ll be hated that much.
And seriously, I use Pokemon Trainer. How can they dare look down at me?

IMO IC's are top tier material, don't be surprised when the next tier list comes out, and they are really high. It's just that IC's don't have people to rep them in tourneys, only Lain and Meep.

oh, and I was saying you will be looked down, for using IC's, not PT. xD

its kinda like when somebody mains MK, you get negative comments.

Lol, a secret... I used to tourny in melee with IC. Never won with em though. And about the MK deal... It wasnt a band wagon at first. I have used MK since I first played brawl. In the tourny realm, MK was marked as a nub charecter, and to many was mid-teir/low. After about a month MK had gained a new rep of being a face wrecker. But, to be honest, Im about to quit brawl, due to meta. Every one now uses him...

You don't have to quit brawl Lastwords? You could quit Metaknight and give other characters a try. Why don't you give Wario a try? He's a high tier and he's fun to play. It's satisfying when you win and he starts laughing. I subed Wario 7 months ago. How about it :thumbsup:

You can get out Ice Climbers chain grab at about 50% with a lot of characters.

I used Ice Climbers for a while and wasn't too bad with them. Now whenever I try to use them it messes me up .

I'm afraid I've been using High Tiers lately. I use to use a lot of low tiers, but the characters I use got bumped up on the tier list .

Mains: Kirby, R.O.B. (needs a lot of work), and Diddy Kong (I've neglected him for Kirby / R.O.B. training).
Subs: Olimar, Zelda, and RANDOM (basically anyone).

I never understood why people complain about no matches, but basically every time I post I tell all of you I'm free for a match just PM me or post a Visitor Message so we can set up a time.

umm that's how you are supposed to play the IC's. Lots of squall, blizzard and chaingrabs.

people just need to get over it, I mean, its not that hard to beat them. Just desynch them, and get rid of nana.

oh, and how cheap it may seem, those CG's take time to practice, not like falco's and D3's. >_>

EDIT: kingslayer, no character can escape an IC's cg. If the player performs it correctly, you can not get out of it, he can take you from 0% to 999%. (hence why they're infinites)

@Bio: I do think Ice Climbers will make it top on the next list, they have a lot of potential even without the grabs. Projectiles, spacing, juggling, decent match-ups against the top tier (except maybe ROB and G&W). Plus, if Balanced Brawl becomes standard, Ice Climbers could easily become top since MK and Snake were gimped and IC remained unchanged.
Oh yea, and most IC players are very good at saving Nana when desynched, Belay has a ridiculous range. Desynching is actually an AT used to deal sh!tloads of damage. I'd say their major weakness would be projectile games, but even then the ice blocks can cancel most projectiles.

@Lastwords?: I actually recommend against you quitting MK, the fact that so many people begin using him actually harms the character since everyone learns how to fight him and a lot of people probably use him wrong. If that's the character you've always liked using, why should you stop using him?

@GC: Ice Climber pros don't rely that much on grabs because everyone who fights them does their best to avoid getting grabbed. The irony is that the best IC technique is to make the opponent fear the grabs so much, that in the process of not getting grabbed their approach game suffers and they get craploads of damage. IC is good at that, a simple combo could deal 50%-70% easily. And most of their aerial moves have killing potential, for those who fight in the air to avoid grabs.

@king: I like your mains, they're high enough for competitive gaming but still relatively underused. ROB has actually gone down on the tier list simply because few people use him so his metagame hasn't advanced. Same happens to DK.

@Anax:IC pros do grab a lot. I have played a couple of great grabbers and it's ridiculus that it's hardly impossible to escape their grabs unless they mess up. You need to avoid their grabs by attacking in the air. Metaknight and P.Diddy do good because of Metaknights airials and P.Diddy's Banana Peels make them slip and get De-synchronized. I think that P.Diddy is the best match up against them.
