Will I need to buy a Wii and Wii U?

Hi, I saw the E3 and even broadcasted it live from my online show.

I do not own a Wii... I have N64, Game Cube and a Play Station 1.

I wanted to find out would I need to buy a Wii, then buy the Wii U device, and connect them together to get the next generation of game play?

I guess I was hoping for more from my fave video game maker.

No, the Wii U is both a whole new console and controller, it's not just the controller.
