Wiimote shake problem

Odd problem with my Wiimote - it works absolutely fine aside from it seems to have lost the ability to detect if it's shaken or not which is odd. Obviously this causes big problems with use with games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros etc. Typically it's two weeks out of warrenty and the cost of repair is only very slightly less than a new Wiimote! Anyone have any suggestions for fixing or resolving the problem, or links to free guides for fixing it myself?
