Wii storage solution coming in March?

Back in October, Nintendo announced that a long-awaited storage solution was in the works for Wii. The company also promised that the fix would arrive in Spring. According to IGN, a more specific date has been determined. Matt Casamassina stated in the latest Nintendo Voice Chat that the update will be up for download towards the end of March and that gamers will be able to save games to their SD cards.

I believe Spring begins sometime around March 20, so chances are - if this information is correct - the update will be available sometime in between March 20 and March 31.

Other significant news from the podcast:

- Retro Studios’ next game will be “epic” and “cool”
- Crystal Defenders will release in the US
- Confirmed that Retro Studios is involved with Wiimakes of Metroid Prime 1 and 2
- More dark games will be announced in the near future
- Look out for major IPs from some publishers
- Have not heard back from Factor 5
- Confirmed that the devs from Excite Truck are working on another game

I would have liked this last year, now it'd be nice but it's not a must have really. I was also hoping for something a little better than an 'improved' SD card but oh well. Maybe once more games come out + extra features I will want to use this.

but playing a vc, or a wiiware game off of sd card directly instead of "cleaning the fridge" would be so much better. whatever we are going to get will be way way better than what we have now :lol: :lol:

I wish we didn't have to wait until March, but it'll be nice to have when we get the update so I don't have to go downloading my VC games (two I've already deleted =/).

This open the posiblility of all downloadable content: music, saves, games, maps, patches, demos, movies, expansions and more!!
I want they deliver 8GB SD 15x card support that you don't need buy some 2GB SD cards to carry all content!!

All I'm saying is..next console from Nintendo better have a drive with memory built in it, but good like 20GB-60GB.

I agree. The Wii2 has to have at least 32 GB of built-in flash memory or at least the ability to treat high-capacity SD cards exactly like built-in memory (seamless game loading...no manual copying into main memory).

Or just put in a hard drive. They're still cheaper than large size flash memory.

I hope, by March the Infinity War developers implement DLC for COD:MW2 on Wii, becose we want this feature ready when the game launch.
Can you imagine the amazing maps that this version will be have?
It will be so great!!
