Wii Star Wars saved data keeps clearing

My son who is five loves to play the Lego Star Wars game. Lately his progress on his saved games is being erased. He will get to about 30% complete and sets it back to 0% complete. He looses all the levels he has beat and the characters he purchased. We have several other games running and this is not happening to them. It happened today after I did an update on the Wii Firmware. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?

Yes we are saving it properly. Is it possible for one game to write over another? It seems like it happens after I play Madden 09.
