Wii friends codes

Would I be right in saying that when it asks for your friends code and user name, would my username be the nickname I gave to my console, when i first set it up? Very new to all this so a bit in the dark still at the moment.

The username is just what you would like their name in your address book to appear as. It doesn't really affect anything.
