Wii Fit Step game

Does anyone know about the Step game problem where it "misses" steps? I've changed the batteries and even put a cardboard shim in to keep them tight.

Sometimes when you step, the system doesn't acknowledge the step. Rarely more than one in a row. When it happens the music doesn't play.

Too me, it seems like a problem with the game, not the pad.

Any ideas?

Yep, my board would do the same thing. Although I noticed it would often miss 5 or 6 steps at a time. It was never frequent but would happen once or twice per session. I tried to slow my steps down and make sure I was putting my full weight on the board but it didn't seem to make a difference.
