Before the Daimler/Chrysler split, they were supposed to come out fall of 2008.
Daimler may still bring them here then.
In Canada in Europe you can get the diesel version, but not in the U.S. version.
The version coming to the U.S. will be on a new platform that's a couple of inches longer to meet U.S. safety regulations.
So, you will be looking 40 or so mpg in the city and about 50 on the highway.
The diesel gets you about 70 mpg on the highway.
It's small, but is designed very well for safety and is probably safer than most mid-sized cars on the road today.
It will go on sale for under $18k when it reaches the U.S.
They have been out for years over here... Personally I dont like them much. But some people muct like the as I see quite a few around! They have made several versions now
God I hate Smarts.... they're expensive like sh*t, have no room for anything and nothing special about it neither... (I'm from Germany, they're out here since many years)
