Whats the point of an SD Card?

It holds saved games, photos and downloaded stuff, such as VC games. If you don't buy any VC games though, the measly 512mb of space on your Wii should be fine.

it works for what ^^ said, and it also stores digital camaara memorie

And, possibly in the future, that SD card could contain full gaming content.
Just like the old consoles, insert cart, machine reads it into memory and the game starts. SD card could work the same way. So in essence, you could have a full library of every single wii game on SD cards. An infinite storage idea that holds as many games as you want.

Lucky...

Well, it'd be recommended to stock up on them if you plan to go Wii-ware crazy with VC games and Wii Ware downloads.

2 or 3 1-2GB cards should be enough that you'll ever need in your ownership of the Wii.

taking saved data to your friends house perhaps?

yes? no?

sheesh, what were memory cards orignally for geniuses
