What's so good about...

...the XBOX360? Well I was in Gamestation this afternoon and saw what I thought was DoA4 or maybe some other beatem up game on the 360. I stood and watched the flickery effects for a while and went to my friend standing with me

"Dude...what the F is so special about this, it looks like a PS2 game but more colourful, they're paying £250+ for this? What a bunch of tards"

And have you seen the Middle Earth RTS? It could have came out on the PC 2+years ago and I would have though "Mhmm it looks okay" where's the next gen graphics that the fans are always on about? Gothic Racing was quite a pretty game, nice reflections on the cars, heat haze on the road, large draw distance and background until I played it and though "Goddam! what am I driving a golf buggy? My Corsa handles better than this" I was sorely dissapointed in the XBox360 and laughed to myself that that's all they had going for them.

Now I'm sure in a year or two when developers get a hand of programming for the system the games will start to truly look amazing, I've seen the Halo 3 trailer and that DID look amazing, one of the only defining games for the system. I'm sure the PS3's graphics will kick the 360's up the ass and I for one am so glad Ninty haven't gone down this path, give me Mario:Galaxies graphics! PLEASE! Beautiful crips colours and effects and that on a normal tv. [BTW all the games I've seen on the 360 were on plasma HDTV's so they should have been eye opening]

Heh don't even get me started on the problems you have with the 360 due to its hardcore processors and graphics units, my co-workers son's first one melted inside, the second one broke again due to heat and the third one only works propped up on some books under each edge and even now it's being sent back due to a harddrive problem, guess what that was caused by

So, anyone think I'm wrong? What graphically amazing games are out on this system?

xbox360 is not so good, but anyway we have to say microsoft did really good on taking the xbox 360 earlier than the wii and ps3

Here's some information on the 360's early release:

It looks like Microsoft hit their fiscal year goal for the Xbox 360. The company said today that they sold about five million Xbox 360s in the fiscal year that just ended, with 1.8 million shipping during the fourth quarter. The company "restated" their goal for Xbox 360 sales early this year, saying they wanted to sell between 4.5 and 5 million of the nifty white consoles.

One goal down, now can Microsoft hit the lead over the Playstation 3 that Bill Gates set for them at this year's E3? And I quote:

"We will have a ten million unit headstart with the Xbox 360"

That means ten million Xbox 360s by mid-September or, as I like to say when I hit the casinos, they're gonna have to double down in less than three months. I'm thinking they can't even manufacture that many.

I'm thinking that the best they can hope to do is to hit seven to eight million if they're lucky and that's nothing to sneeze at. Brian Crecente

dont know what your smoking but DOA4 looks NOTHING like a ps2 game (hell PS2 had the worst gfx out of all 3 last-gen systems). they probably didnt have the settings set to HD (on the AV cable, there is a switch you flip in order to change the setting from reg. to HD) and if you play a game in SD on an HD screen, it will magnify stuff that will make it look bad. also im damn sick of people saying "the PS3 is gonna pwn in gfx" because if you knew anything about the chips in both systems, you would see that they are almost the same (yeea ps3's are a little better but not by much.) also who the hell cares about the gfx. as long as they look good and the gameplay is awsome, WHO THE **** CARES???? look at pong, galaga, pacman, frogger, ect. those gfx SUCK but they are still insanly fun to play. sorry for that, when someone bashes a console, it kinda sets me off. i hate fanboys

Yeah, I agree; every console has it's good and bad parts, it's the games that matter in the end.

If we want to talk about amazing graphics, look at what's currently available for the PC, like Half-life, Far Cry, and Crysis!! The console's this generation, including the PS3, have already lost the graphics contest to the PC and I don't even play PC games, so I'm no fanboy. I said something similar to this in another thread, but Rez is a great example of a game that looks awesome, and it doesn't have/require stuff like individual blades of grass moving; I don't play Halo to look at the grass (although it does have nice flat grass and detailed bark on trees, but once you've seen it once, you forget about it and actually play the game).

Just as a side question, did any Halo players notice that, and correct me if I'm wrong, the graphics in the first Halo (the one that had a real story) looked in many cases better than Halo 2's, or am I the only one??

halo1's gfx had a bit of a cartoony feel to them compared to halo2. thats probably what your seeing

I have something to say about your opinion with the xbox 360. Wherever you saw the game, it wasn't set up correctly.

Xbox 360 is an amazing console and it did many things right. It released a year before the competition, xbox arcade is about the coolest thing since sliced bread, and the graphics, contrary to your belief, are very very good, and even stunning at points. Just try playing Ghost Recon for a minute on a HDTV.

Xbox 360 has a Tri-Core 3.4Ghz Processor, which is more cores than anything on the PC market today. Developers at this point are using 1. Just 1. Coding threads of commands across 3 cores is something that takes practice, for lack of a better word.

PS3 will have 7 Cores with a clock speed not as high. All programs will be run off of these 7 cores. This will make it extremely difficult to code for the console. The graphics processor...maybe 10% more powerful.

Battle For Middle Earth II is a RTS. So many objects are placed on the screen at once. BFMEII is currently by far the best looking RTS on both Xbox 360 and PC.

It bothers me that the first thing i see when going to a new site is a hate thread against the xbox 360. Isn't this a Nintendo Wii forum?

Also, i'm not denying that there are problems with the console. The hardware does have a high rate of failure. Microsoft stands by its statement the rate of failure is less than 5% which is under the market median for new products.

Hell if I believe them though.

wow. im anything but a fanboy. fanboys suck. i like ALL systems (including PC [which remides me, i need to start saving for some more ram lol]) but i prefer the 360 and Wii over the PS3. why? because they have most the games i like. the PS3 has games i like but not enough for me to buy the system (well not untill the damn price drops in about 1.5 years). you seem to be a sony/MS fanboy. the 360 and ps3 have their graphics and serious games, the Wii has the more relaxing games and the new controller whch will add a new dimension to gaming. (btw that trailer for the new TH games looks AWSOME!)
