What is the wii chanel

I went to nintendo.com and now i am very confused. Is the wii chanel something on the internet whitch conects to your wii?

The Wii has multiple channels; it's sort of it's menu system. It has a channel for games you've downloaded from the Virtual Console, a Weather Channel, a Picture Channel where you can view pictures you've put on an SD card, an Internet Channel where you can surf the web using the Opera Web Browser, and more.
