what the heck is an sd card and can you send pics over the umm wii message system?

A SD card is like a memory card that can be used for cameras and ur Wii and yes you caan send pics

In my situation, our digital camera uses an SD card. Since the Wii has a slot in the front of the console for an SD card, you can take the card from your camera (full of photos and/or videos) and put it into your Wii. Then just go to the Photo Channel and you can do endless (or what seems endless) things with your photos and videos.
