i asked for a nintendo ds lite for my birthday (fingers crossed i get it if not i will buy one) and i was wondering what is a must for the ds (games, accessories) and what are some tips to maximize my gaming enjoyment ? i asked for the new super mario bros with it ...

no its quite strong
games wise its better if you buy what you want
but accsesorys the gba movie/mp3 player

annimal crossing and metroid prime:hunters are great games 4 the DS. it's a lot better when u r online so i advise u to buy whireless internett breedband ore breedband and wi-fi adapter to put in your usb port. if u don't have anything of it:p

there has been something going around about DS lites getting cracks on their hinges. if that happens to you call customer support and they will let you get it fixed. and you should get a WiFi connector so you can play online. MP hunters is so much better online than off

Here's a list of excellent games for the DS:

Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Kirby: Power Paintbrush
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Mario Kart DS
Meteos
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Nanostray
Nintendogs
Pac Pix
New Super Mario Bros
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Polarium
Sonic Rush
Super Mario 64: DS
Tetris DS
Zoo Keeper
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (its all about the '8's)
Nintendo Touch Golf
Trauma Centre: Under the Knife
Wario Ware: Touched
Yoshi: Touch and Go
Worms: Open Warfare
Bomberman World (only buy this if you have someone to play against)

Out of that list just buy the ones that sound good to you.

Good list! You made some excellent choices there.

To avoid scratching the touch screen o the following things:
  • use only the stylus on the touch screen
  • keep to lid closed at all times when you are not playing
  • make sure nobody else plays it
  • try to avoid dropping things on it
  • Basically, just be careful

If you do all that then you shouldn't need to by a screen protector.

Lucky for you there are are some good Castlevania games on the GBA, these are 'Castlevania: Circle of the Moon' and 'Castlevania: Double Pack'. Castlevania: Double Pack contains 'Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow' and 'Castlevania: Harmony of Dissoance' so I would specially recommend picking that one up.

As for Sonic games the only one I would recommend getting is Sonic Advance 2. Don't get any other Sonic games as they're not very good (with the exception of Sonic Advance one which is OK).

Two side scrolling games also worth getting are 'Metroid Fusion' and 'Metroid Zero Mission'. Both are very good so I reccomend you get them both.

4 more excellent side scrolling games are; Mario Advance 1, 2, 3 and 4. All four of these games are ports of the SNES Mario games ( Super Mario Advance 1= Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Advance 2= Super Mario World, Super Mario Advance 3= Yoshi's Island and Super Mario Advance 4= Super Mario Bros 3) so if don't own the SNES versions then all 4 of these are worth getting.

The 3 Donkey Kong Country games have also been ported onto the GBA, so if you don't own the SNES versions then all three of these are worth getting.

Don't worry though, not all side scrolling GBA games are ports of SNES games. Heres some good side scrollers which AREN'T ports (yes they do excist;) ):

Astro Boy Omega Factor
Gunstar Future Heros (I THINK this is a side scroller)
Ninja Cop
Wario Land 4 (excellent game)
Mario & Donkey Kong (very good)

Of course side scrollers aren't the only good games on the GBA. Here is a list of good non-sidescroller games on the GBA:

Advance Wars
Advance Wars Black Hole Rising
Final Fantasy IV Advance
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Fire Emblem:D
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones
Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past/ Four Swords (port of SNES version)
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Pokemon Ruby/ Sapphire
Mario Kart Super Circuit
Pokemon Leaf Green/ Fire Red
Pokemon Pinball
Wario Ware

Out of all the games I've mentioned just get the ones that sound good to you;) .

if I buy mine I will buy in the first day only 2

-- New Super Mario Bros.
-- Metroid Prime: Hunters
