toejam&earl, NGC control issues

howdy, first time call, long time listener
me and my lil bro just downloaded toejam and earl (damn we missed this game) and we have 2 gamecube controls plugged in, but when we play, only port 2 gamecube control works and the other player can only use the wii remote
any hints?

ha, problem solvered, turns out it just didnt like my aftermarket control
