System Update Frozen, Help!

Ok, quick question; I got my Wii today, and started to set up a wireless connection. I got through this fine, it detected the connection fine. But when it requested a system update, I said OK, it downloaded about 75% and now it's frozen. I just want to turn it off so I can deal with this later, but if I turn it off will it mess up the system since it's halfway through an update? If it safe to turn off? Help me!

OK, I was freaking out over nothing. I just unplugged the power source, turned it back on and everything was fine. Thanks though.

i had the same thing.

its annoying because it says to make sure you dont turn off the console.....but you have no choice as it has permanently frozen.

deep breath then pull the plug. then try again on the update, worked 3rd time for me, just nintendo's crappy server at the time, as i spoke to others trying to update at similar times and they kept timing out aswell..

Haha, that's exactly what I did, about scared the living daylights out of me too
