Stupid friend...

Hey theres this retardious friend at my school who keeps telling me that
"nooooo, nintendo wii means nintendo wireless."

Obviously i know he is incorrect. I know that wii means "together" in a sense that everyone can play etc etc. But i was wondering, does anyone have any sources explaining what the wii actually means stated by official people? I want to end this crap once and for all i just dont have any sources....
