If you’re a SpongeBob fan, or his long-suffering boat driving teacher Ms Puff, you’ll know that SpongeBob is not exactly the best boat driver in Bikini Bottom, hence a perfect candidate for a boating demolition derby contest, which also just happens to be the premise of THQ’s new SpongeBob game, Boating Bash. Yes, fans, the loveable yellow porous one returns to the Wii in spring 2010 with this high-energy, fast-paced game that gives players the chance to compete as one of nine SpongeBob characters who must crash and bash their way to victory around demolition areas in Bikini Bottom. In the game, up to four players can drive more than 100 customized boat mobiles while trying to knock off and collect other boat parts in order to win points and move up levels so that they can eventually earn their boat mobile license.
This will be of particular interest to SpongeBob of course, who, as keen viewers will know, has failed his boat mobile driving class 78 times. He gets involved in the demolition derby circuit by enrolling in a “Learn to D.R.I.V. E” course sold to him by shady shark Seymour Scales. Could it be that SpongeBob will finally get his hands on that much-coveted boat mobile license? Ms Puff hopes not.
