softmod for wii

so how long do you think it will be until someone comes out with a softmod for the wii? any leads?
 
ive heard about nintendo tightening security too, im sure they'll try to prevent it someway or another, probably wiiconnect24

Yeah, I have heard rumors of this, but have not read anything official. Do you have a link to an official statement by nintendo? If it was going to be fixed, they would do it via wiiconnect no doubt, but even the updates via wiiconnect are limited. I guess it will depend on the bug that is exploited to run backups.

i think it will be interesting to see what happens. i always heard that mods increase sales of consoles, thus increasing profit for the console company... but that is just another "internet rumor" too.

It may well be true for the producer of the console, but game developers suffer greatly from software piracy and without their support, any console would eventually wither and die.

So, region-free all the way :thumbsup: But hacks for reading burned DVDs or data images :nono:

lol so true...I work in the IT dept. of a rather large company and we have to sacrafice secruity for usability all the time...it literally goes like this...guy #1 "well...if we upgrade the nix kernel to fix the expliot xxxx software will not work anymore....what would happen if we dont upgrade the kernel?" guy #2 "well...the worst that could happen is a hacker could reboot/shutdown that server..." guy #1"well thats not to bad! we can manage that"
