saved games and gamerscore ?

I got an xbox elite for christmas and after two days it got the RROD so i am taking it back to futureshop and get a different one.
I have played halo 3 for many hours and a few other games that i do not want to have to restart.
If i get a new system, and link my gamercard with it do i get to keep my gamerscore?, and can i restart from where i am in the game now? or do i have to totally restart that games and just not get the gamerscore as i go along?

if your gamercard is linked to LIVE (silver or gold) then you can keep your gamerscore. however you will not be able to keep your game saves. try and ask if you can swap out the HDDs of the 2 units. i dont see any reason they shouldnt let you

depending on what your system is doing when you turn it on (mine wouldnt get RR till i tried to put a game in it) you might be able to transfer the saved files to a memory card. good luck, hope you dont have to restart halo, cause that almost happened to me too lol.
