Resident Evil I NEED HELP!!!

I cannot get my game to save!! I beat a boss only to find it doesnt save or advance and I cant go any farther!! Why??

I'm assuming you're playin' Resident Evil 4, since that's the only one that's received a Gamecube/Wii release IIRC...

Never played it myself, but I believe you save by usin' typewriters found in the world.
