problems updating

I have extremely slow updating times, and most of the time the updater just gets stuck and doesnt move for hours. And that's when it actually connects to the internet. I'm using a compatable router (although it isnt connected directly to the modem, theres a wired router in between them) and i can't seem to find the problem. any suggestions?

You connection sucks then.

The signal is at full strength though. Its not a bad router either. No reason for the connection to suck.
