I was reading oxm today and company chief satoru iwata of nintendo had this to say "we are not exspecting an enormous loss" this is in sharp contrast to the xbox360 and ps3 on which microsoft and sony lose more money per console sold than uwe boll's movies lifetime takes at the box office

I think it's because the Wii is so cheap to produce compared to the other two consoles. Ultimately though, it's the games sales that are going to be more important.
