From wii.nintendolife, this is what is posted.

On life support, apparently

Death by Natal?

UK electronics retailer Pixmania has compiled a list for The Daily Telegraph of what it deems are "endangered" technologies that "will be lucky to survive by the end of next year," and Nintendo's game-changing Wii Remote is sitting pretty in 6th place.

According to them, Microsoft's upcoming motion-sensing, controller-free Project Natal is poised to kill the Wiimote dead. Seems a bit extreme considering upwards of 50 million people world-wide already own what is likely more than twice that number of remotes.
Also on the list are DVD players, fax machines, analog TVs and the computer mouse; all of these things have been superseded on a pure technological level (Blu-ray/direct download, e-mail, HDTVs and multitouch inputs), so we're guessing Pixmania predicts 2010 will be the year these old stalwarts disappear into obsoleteness forever?

We suppose nobody told them about Motion Plus either.
Does anyone seriously believe DVDs will be gone by the end of next year? Or the computer mouse for that matter?

I can agree to that.

It's more directly endangered by Sony's tech, however. Even if Natal miraculously fails, the PS Wand (or whatever they plan to "officially" call it) would still have potential to strip away some of the allure of the Wiimote.

I feel that the Wii will remain competitive, though. Families can count on that console for providing family-oriented content.

Wii might be beat by project natal but it seems to perfect. It probably has some flaws that will really tick people off. I thought the wii was perfect but some games weren't really that great and the graphics were no competition to microsoft and sony (controls were far too simpel to such as just waving the remote). We probably could keep up but I hear nintendo is making a wii 2 with blue-ray better internet and all that other stuff.

what no way the wii will be dead when the next gen comes out i hope they ditch or atleast make a new stlye of gaming GOOO NINTENDO

xbox and ps3 are hardcore consoles... i guess they expect for the cauals to migrate over there also but.... the casuals already bought their console.. so sales wont be that good for ms and sony.

My thoughts exactly, I wouldn't count on casual players to go out and buy another console.
