While you are downloading something you will see mario or luigi running.

When you download something off the VC, it has an animation of one of Classic Mario's forms (small, normal, fire, etc) Occasionally, he will hit one of the three blocks above, which each block hit, the download is 1/3 closer to being done. He also grabs coins, and when he's fire mario you can press a button to shoot fireballs.
