Ok, just figured id help a few people out and make a list of all the FREE multimedia software out there...also keep in mind that "no" i havent tried ALL of these, so i dont know how good each program really is, just went to there websites and read a bit about them.
Hope u enjoy!
MULTIMEDIA APPLICATIONS
GIMP - http://www.gimp.org/
---
GIMP is practically photoshop for the poor. You can do all kinds of junk, such as apply filters and effects. There are tons of other neat stuff as well. If you're a comic maker and you're stuck with MS Paint, this is a good program to take it's place.
GIMPShop - http://plasticbugs.com/index.php?p=241
---
GIMPShop is pretty much just GIMP, but with a more photoshop friendly interface.
Paint.net - http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/
---
Paint.net is another great image editing/creating program. While it may not have quite as many features as the GIMP, it is much easier to use. Think of this as MS Paint on steroids.
Pivot Stick Animator - http://www.geocities.com/peter_bone_uk/pivot.html
---
Pivot Stick Animator allows you to create your own stick cartoons without having to deal with flash or any other program as such. It's possible to make them in 5 minutes, but if you really want to create something worth watching, you're going to have to spend some time on it. It can get quite addicting, which almost makes you forget how time consuming it can be.
Easy Toon - http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/easytoon/
---
Easy Toon is very much like Pivot Stick Animator, but is much more challenging to make something compelling with. And as sad as it always is, the more complex something is, the more possibilties it brings. If you were to master this program, you could make some pretty kickass stuff!
GameCam - http://www.planetgamecam.com/
---
GameCam is an alternative to the game recording program Fraps. While it DOES have a watermark, and last time I checked it doesn't have any limit to the length of videos you can record.
Take One - http://www.take1.de/
---
Take One is a free GIF animator. Don't let the cheesiness of the website fool you, it's quite a good program. Check out the site for more information.
Open Office - http://www.openoffice.org/
---
Open Office is pretty much everything from MS Office, but for free... and better! Check out the website for more information.
Wings 3D - http://www.wings3d.com/
---
Wings 3D is a free, open-source modeling program. I don't know a whole bunch about modeling (Actually, I know next to nothing), but it seems that if you're looking for a free modeling program this wouldn't be a bad place to start.
Anim8or - http://www.anim8or.com/main/index.html
---
Anim8or is another free modeling/animation program that, from what I have read, is one of the simplest around. That being said, I think it's a safe bet to take that THIS would be a good place to start. Also, some of the stuff on the main page may not be all that great, but there really is some impressive stuff in the gallery section.
Blender3D - http://www.blender3d.com/cms/Home.2.0.html
---
Yet another 3D modeling program. Like I said, I know nothing about modeling, so you're going to have to check the site yourself.
IrfanView - http://www.irfanview.com/
---
IrfanView is a good imageviewer/editor. You can make slideshows, apply effects, and if I recall you can also make gifs with it. Check out the link above for more information.
Pixia - http://park18.wakwak.com/~pixia/
---
Yet another image editor created by some japanese guy. I check the program out, and I was rather impressed. While the site may not be of the highest quality, don't let that turn you off from the program itself. Check out the link above for more information.
Artpad - http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/
---
Artpad is a very impressive site that lets you paint just as you would with actual paint. You can also see the way people have drawn or painted their work. Probably a good way to learn new drawing techniques.
Art of Illusion - http://www.artofillusion.org/
---
Art of Illusion is a free, open-source modeling and rendering program which is written entirely in Java. It claims that the latest version is stable and powerful enough to take on high-end animation.
3DCanvas - http://www.amabilis.com/
---
Yet another free modeling program for you to choose from.
Jahshaka - http://www.jahshaka.org/
---
"The worlds first OpenSource Realtime Editing and Effects System. Jahshaka takes advantage of the power of OpenGL and OpenML to give its users exceptional levels of performance. We currently support Linux, OsX, Irix and Windows, and Solaris is on the way! Jahshaka is licenced to the public under the GNU GPL agreement." - The website.
Inkscape - http://inkscape.org/
---
Inkscape is an open-source vector graphics editor, which could be seen an alternative to programs such as Adobe illustrator or CoralDraw. Check out the website for more information.
Lego Digital Designer - http://www.lego.com/eng/factory/design/
---
This program allows you to create your own lego models, and if you'd like, you can even upload to the lego website and buy everything you'd need to make the model in real life!
ArtRage - http://www.ambientdesign.com/artrage.html
---
This is an impressive program that allows you to create realistic looking drawings on your computer. While there is both a free and full edition, the free version has some pretty nice features, and has a very sexy look to it.
AbiWord - http://www.abisource.com/
---
AbiWord is a free word processing application. Check out the link for more information.
DrawPlus 4 - http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/sof...us/default.asp
---
"The award-winning DrawPlus 4 is the user-friendly drawing program that opens up a whole new creative world. With its amazing combination of powerful functionality, simplicity and professional quality output, this free drawing software will give you the results you want - fast!" - Website.
3DPlus 2 - http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/sof...us/default.asp
---
"Imagine being able to transform plain text into stunning 3D works of art simply with a few clicks of your mouse. You can when you download 3DPlus 2 for free! This fantastic software makes it simple for anyone to create professional looking 3D effects and animations that really make an impact." - Website.
Hope u enjoy!
