Medals in Lylat Wars

In Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64 ) what happened when you completed the game with medals in every 'level' ? In the instruction manual it stated "something special will happen" .

I've defeated Andross many time , through the different paths . I've also got medals in nearly every stage , but never all in the same game . And I've also been escorted to saftey by James McCloud to end the game .

But I'm curious to know what what was the "something special" ?

You get to use James McCloud " Fox's dad" in the game.

I'd often wondered if that was the case . Is that in the battle with Andross , or when you restart the game ?
Does James Arwing have any special abilities ?

lol, you don't get to use Fox's dad, all you get are his shades. You also unlock the option to play Vs mode on foot

I have all medals but that never happened?

and I've never seen fox's dad 'James' at any point

You get to use him by changing your difficulty settings, he LOOKS like Fox with shades, but its his dad, dont get confused.

actually you get expert mode for getting all of the medals, and it lets you use the tanks in multiplayer. then getting all the medals again on expert mode lets you use multiplayer on foot, and gives you glasses.

btw whats peoples highest score on this?
i can get 2300 on expert mode

And im still playin too beat it!
