I just finished the superstar battle, but nothing got saved. It is saved up to the very last battle. After I won, it came up with an endless stream of credits so I eventually left, but nothing got saved.
You should've waited for the credits. You get 200 cards each time you win the battle. When you go back & win it the second time, it'll let you skip the credits.
