In Kitsap County, Washington, a man now faces stolen property charges after selling a broken Nintendo Wii, which was later confirmed as stolen, on Craigslist.

Earlier this month, two men, whose names were not released at the time of this writing, made arrangements via Craigslist and completed the transaction with an exchange of $250 for the Wii in a Park-n-Ride parking lot.

However, when the buyer returned home, the console didn’t work. The seller’s contact information proved to be fake, but luckily, the man’s wife had written down the license plate number of the car driven by the suspect.

When he contacted sheriff’s deputies, serial numbers on the Wii showed that it was reported stolen back in December. According to a report obtained by the Kitsap Sun, the man who reported the theft had been friends with the suspect, but cut off the relationship after the man “got involved with drugs and started to steal items from him.”

When authorities gathered enough information about the suspect, a deputy went to an address to contact the man.

After the suspect’s girlfriend at the house said that he wasn’t home, the deputy searched the residence and found the man hiding in a closet and arrested him.

He was taken to Kitsap County Jail with bail set $20,000. He now faces charges of suspicion of possession of stolen property and trafficking stolen property.

Wow what a guy

thats why you only deal with respectable retailers when it comes to these types of items.

wow that's nuts. at least the lady was smart enough to take down the plates. or they would have been completely screwed.

I doubt they will get their money back from those crooks. They probably have to go to small claims court and try to get a judgement against them.

he shouldve killed them and stolen their wallets. probably had a better chance of getting away with that than selling a broken/stolen wii. people take wiis very seriously, what an idiot! haha.

Always check the product out, before paying.

It doesn't matter that it was broken. The only reason the police did anything at all was because it was stolen. Had it not been stolen but just broken, the police would have just told them "tough luck" and done nothing.
