Madden in Widescreen not Full Widescreen?

I have my Wii set to 16:9 and 480p. When I play Madden 2007, the picture doesnt fill the entire screen. I have a 42" Panasonic Plasma and there is about an inch border on the left and right side of the screen. Is this normal? This doesnt happen in Wii Sports or Call of Duty 3.
