European fans of shooting games got a New Year’s Eve treat yesterday when Teyon’s Heavy Fire: Special Operations finally became available for download via the Wii Shop Channel, for 500 Wii Points. It’s taken its time getting here, as the game was released on WiiWare in the US way back in the Summer, where it was very well received indeed. In the arcade shooter, the player gets to take on the role of a member of an elite army unit, embarking on challenging missions in the Middle East from the ground, in a Humvee, or up in a Blackhawk.
Players can progress through the military ranks in the game and earn increasingly powerful weapons differing in features and controls. The game also has great replayability value as you strive to improve your best ranking, racking up combos and smashing the environment to get more points.
The Wii Zapper accessory is supported, although not required to play the game, and aside from the single-player mode, there’s also a multiplayer mode where your friend can join it.
