Green Day, Harmonix, MTV Games and Reprise/Warner Bros. Records have today announced that the full standalone Green Day: Rock Band Nintendo Wii game will be released worldwide on June 8th, 2010.
Green Day: Rock Band enables players to step onto the stage and into the pogoing shoes of Green Day, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning pop-punk trio. Taking on the likenesses of Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, players progress through the story and history of Green Day, gaining access into the band’s media vault, which contains more than 100 collectible images and over 40 minutes of rare and unreleased video from outtakes, interviews and performances.
The new game will utilize the three-part harmony technology that Harmonix introduced with the award-winning The Beatles: Rock Band, and boasts a huge setlist of 47 tracks including Brain Stew, American Idiot and Wake Me Up When September Ends. All tracks are fully exportable to Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the recently announced Rock Band 3. Here’s what the band’s Billie Joe Armstrong had to say about the game:
“We’ve worked with the Rock Band team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from 21st Century Breakdown, and we’re excited to now be working on a game, spanning our entire career. We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks, and play along with us as Rock Band avatars so they can feel what it’s like to perform on stage as Green Day.”
Green Day: Rock Band will be available on June 8th 2010 for a US MSRP of $49.99.
