Would-be DJs should get themselves down to the games shop pronto and snap up a copy of In The Mix featuring Armin van Buuren, the first real DJ simulation game for Nintendo Wii, which is out today. In the game, players get to become a professional DJ, selecting and mixing their favourite tunes using real-world DJ techniques. In career mode, novice DJs start by playing simple sets in local clubs, working their way up the ladder and buying more specialised equipment as they go, and playing at some of the world’s most exclusive venues, balancing the technical core of mixing with creativity and an understanding of what the crowd wants to hear.

Manual fades and cross-fades between over 60 tracks and remixes, hand-picked by Armin van Buuren himself, form the basis of the gameplay, with the ability to get creative and mix in loops and effects on top of the two-track mix adding an imaginative dimension to the music game genre. Crowd interaction is also a big part of the game, via motion control commands, and there’s also a studio mode that enables you to create your own music using the game’s library of loops, vocals, effects and percussion.

Easy Interactive’s Managing Director, Michel van Elmpt, comments, “In The Mix featuring Armin van Buurenhas a completely unique and innovative control method which replicates real life DJ techniques, allowing anyone to master the art of mixing dance music”. He adds, “Armin van Buuren is one of the most enduringly popular DJs in the world and one of Netherlands’ most famous stars, so we’re delighted that Easy Interactive is launching*In The Mix featuring Armin van Buurenfor the UK market”.

One big advantage of the game is that it doesn’t require any extra hardware to play, so that keeps the price down. A deluxe version is also available, including a copy of the game, three CDs and an exclusive Armin Only DVD.
