Since the Wii pretty much supports all gamecube features, do you think it also supports lan multiplayer?

I'm wondering because I'm thinking about buying Mario Kart for the GameCube and I want to know how it will work with the LAN functionality on the Wii....

yeah, mariokart and i think a kirby game....

they actually had hacks and played them online, not just local :D

'warp-pipe' was the name of the project i think i remember

but im not sure about the wii's ability, as the GC had a different type of connector for lan, but im sure that shouldnt be too difficult to get around

i play lan mario kart all the time... havent tryed it on the wii yet... just search for lan mari kart double dash... and you will find plenty of lan groups out there i use pipeline... im sure it would still work with wii, dont see why not.. the gc part of wii is identical to a regular game cube... should work the same...

Had no idea that was possible, sounds pretty sweet, might have to look into it more.

Should work the same. But since the GC part of the wii cant save to SD or onboard flash, I am kinda of skeptical that the GC part would have any idea what to do with the wii wireless. Could someone try it out or point me to someone that has a way to do it?

the problem would be in the ip addy... when i hook up the gamecube i use the lan adapter, and a "cross over" cable... thats a network cable designed for fast back and forth flow of info... kinda hard to find but only one that works... someone gets online host a lan party and you just use to program to connect to it over your highspeed internet.. pretty cool... not sure how well the wifi would work... but for the lan adapter wii... im posative i could get it to work fine...

your pretty much just using your computer as a hub to your gamecube you tell the program your computers ip and it does the rest.. although wii could have somekinda block for that.. but i dont know for sure... anyone with mario kart double dash, wii, and lan adapter get ahold of me and ill try connecting up with ya...

i would try it myself but when i pull up the wii wifi, and gamecube they are going to be running through the same ip anyways so that wont work.. and i only have one copy of double dash...lol

Why dont you bring up MKDD on the wii and see if you can even use the Wifi in the Wii, or if it says that there is no lan adapter connected or whatever. First lets see if the GC on the Wii even knows how to use the wifi.

thats the only thing... now im using the nintendo wifi.. doesnt give you much options on what you can do with it... just basic connected or not... im gonna give it a shot.. but anyone who does have a lan adapter hooked up to there wii instead of using the wifi.. let me know and we can give this a try... has nothing to do with the memory of the wii... just toss in your normall gamecube memory card, controllers and hook up the lan adapter from there your computer and the pipeline program will connect the lan party... im gonna have to bust out the wifimax usb adapter again and try that i had more options with it and it will probably give me the addy for the wii i dont see why it would be a problem.. except maybe speed wise...

we just need someone with a lan adapter wii and double dash i could find out really quick if it works

Are you guys sure that it wouldnt just work with the wifi. Its still an internet connection. This would be a cool idea if somone can test it.
