Is there any way to extend the length of the IR reciever by splicing in cat5? I do this with regular IR systems, but would like to see if anyone has tried this and if it works before I cut the cable.
The infrared "receiver" is located in the wii remote. There are cable extensions on ebay for the sensor bar (ir source) that would prevent any need for splicing.
There are two things limiting the range of the IR signal tranmission range in Wii. First is the intensity of the IR LED which has a limit of around 25ft. Second is the distance between the 2 groups of IR-LEDs in the sensor bar. Read my earlier thread for the details in extending the IR range.
