I know Super Mario Worlds controls are probably worse but is the problems people were having when using a GC contoller on SMW similar to the slight pain in the ass that it is to use one with DKC? I guess I need to bite the bullit and get a classic controller...

It's only 20 bucks.. Go for it.. I love mine, does a really good job controlling SNES and 64 games, you have to get used to the C direction buttons being the right analog stick and the Z button being on the top as ZL or ZR, but after a few seconds you've got it down.
