Connecting online wired

Okay, so I went out and bought the LAN adapter but now I have realized that I need at least 45 feet of Ethernet cable to run it into the living room from my computer. Exactly what type of cable do I need? I have heard
CAT5e and Cat 6 and I am now confused.
I really do not feel like messing with wireless so I want to run the cable instead. I can get it on ebay for kinda cheap but was just wondering if I needed a specific kind. This is getting expensive.

Cat5 would work fine. Cat5e would be marginally better and should be available for the same price as Cat5. Cat6 would be overkill.
