Disney Interactive announced today that Club Penguin Game Day! has been released to stores, exclusively on the Wii, for an SRP of $49.99. The game marks the first time that the hugely popular Club Penguin virtual playground has appeared on a video games console, so doubtless all the millions of fans who already inhabit the virtual world online will be wanting to play the Wii game, which is based faithfully on the environment, characters and storylines* of Club Penguin, and includes a range of single-player and multiplayer sports and performance events designed to challenge and engage every member of the family.
The game features a collection of 12 all-new Wii-exclusive games, including Puffle Paddle, Dance Off and Sumo Smash. Players get to create and customise a penguin, choose a team colour, and try to conquer challenges in each of the six zones on the island, with the winners being the team that takes over the most territory on the island. The game also features innovative ways to connect with the virtual world, enabling players to transfer their penguins, achievements, coins and exclusive unlockable items to their online accounts on clubpenguin.com, or to transfer their customised penguins via their Wii Remote to a friend’s Wii for use in gameplay.* Players will also enjoy having the chance to interact with familiar characters from the virtual world, including Rookie, Aunt Arctic, and Gary the Gadget Guy.
