SEGA announced today that it’s bringing legendary Marvel Superhero franchise Captain America to all major consoles, including the Nintendo Wii, in an original WWII adventure. Captain America: Super Soldier, due for release in summer 2011, is a third-person action-adventure game which combines dynamic acrobatic platforming with a fast and fluid melee combat system. Written by renowned Marvel comic writer Christos Gage (Avengers: The Initiative, X-Men, Spider-Man, Union Jack), the game follows an engaging storyline set during World War II, designed to coincide with the upcoming movie of the same name. Gage’s original story also contains many twists and turns intended specifically to enhance gameplay alongside all-new cinematic action sequences.
Players will get to take on the role of “Super Soldier” Captain America, testing their skills as they battle such infamous enemies as Iron Cross, the Hydra Army and the legendary Red Skull.
As ever, Captain America will be wielding his trusty shield, using it both as a defensive and offensive weapon, complete with an arsenal of special attack moves which enable him to take out multiple enemies at once.
Captain America first appeared during the WWII era, and was created by the legendary team of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Over 200 million Captain America issues have been sold in 75 countries, and the shield-wielding hero is a key member of the Avengers, alongside The Hulk, Iron Man and Thor.
