You'll need to be connected to recieve them but I'd imagine that if you were to recieve messages while you were offline you would get them when you connect

Yeh if your wii connect is turned off, you just get the msg's when you turn it back on.

Yep, i had mine off for a month. The only thing is that you'll get your messages on the day you turn your Wii back online, so you dont know when the person actually sent the message.

cool i had the same question. cuz i got tthe wifi usb thing so whenever im usin internet on the compu i gotta turn firewall on.
