can i play downloaded games with my game cube controller

do i need to buy the wii game cube controller to play downloaded games on my wii or can i use a regular controller

When you are browsing the downloadable games, it shows you which controllers will work with that game, usually in the form of icons representing each controller.

Some games work with the classic, some work with the GC controller, some with either.

It shows you this information before you choose to download.

all VC games work with the classic controller. MOST games work with the gamecube. like Goots said, it shows you what controllers are compatible
