Are wii points universal?

I live in the uk and have a pal wii and i was wondering if i could buy wii points in the US and redeem them on my pal wii?

I think it says on the back of the Wii point cards, that they only work for that specific continent, doesn't it? :S

And even if, i guess those wii points are bound to the console!

yeah but if you boot up your console in like japan i think itll still take you to the american wii shop. what they mean is you cant buy wii points in america and input them into a jap. wii.

If you eneter a non-region card for your console it says that it is invalid and out of of country.
