2nd controller sync-up

I am trying to hook up my 2nd controller, I hold 1 & 2 down at the same time and the blue lights blink, but nothing happends. Is there a certain menu you have to access to do this?

You hold the little red button near the battery in the wiimote and the red button in the face of the wii down simotaniously for a few seconds.

For our 2nd controller:

I opened the battery cover

Pushed the red sync button (all 4 LED's blink)

Then I pushed the red button on the front of the WII (under the door, next to the SD slot)

The LED's stopped and the #2 LED stayed on (indicating controller #2)

[I believe this is the documented procedure in the manual]
